The meticulously planned city of Miami Lakes, Florida is more hometown than
metropolis. A traditional Main Street anchors curvy residential streets, tasteful
corporate parks and lots of lakes and green spaces. Enjoy fine dining and shopping
in the quaint ambience created by old-fashioned lamps, colorful striped awnings and
brick sidewalks
Incorporated in December 2000, the Town of Miami Lakes is a thriving city of its own,
with over 22,000 residents and additional 12,000 people who work in the 1,700+
businesses located throughout the community. Forty years ago, the Graham
Companies began development of Miami Lakes as a master planned community. The
original 3,000 acres of Miami Lakes was once a dairy farm, whose cattle grazed
where homes and businesses now prosper. Curving streets, cul-de-sacs, lakes, lots
of neighborhood parks, schools, churches and shopping areas provide the facilities
that have allowed the Town of Miami Lakes to become the prosperous city that is.
Thousands of families and several generations fondly think of Miami Lakes as their
own piece of paradise - their home.
Open space and tranquility fills the air as quiet, shaded streets wind through
man-made lakes, cool parks and expansive golf courses. Condominiums circle lakes
and gracious homes join fairways Rental apartments cluster near the attractive
commercial center. Rounding out the self-contained atmosphere of Miami Lakes are
restaurants, a wide variety of comfortable retail shops and an Inn and Country Club.
It is almost equal parts residential, open spaces and tasteful corporate parks and
offices. There are 23 lakes, five lake beach parks and neighborhood parks with tot
lots for every 30 homes. Despite its suburban feel and modern buildings, it isn't hard
to imagine Miami Lakes' beginnings as a 1930s dairy farm -- Holstein cows still graze
across the street from a burgeoning shopping and entertainment center.
Main Street is the town center of Miami Lakes,Home to Don Shula's Hotel and Shula's
Steakhouse, a well-established, master planned community in northern Miami-Dade
County. It offers an upscale, open-air, pedestrian-oriented shopping atmosphere
featuring a mixed use setting of apartments, offices, hotel rooms, an athletic club,
theatre and restaurants. Retail Estate was retained to take Main Street's original
concept to the next level by attracting national tenants and transforming the project
from a neighborhood center into a regional hub of a growing community.
