Cooper City is an intimate community situated close to beautiful beaches, enticing
attractions and cosmopolitan delights. Famous for an idyllic climate, an abundance of
recreational activities and a congenial atmosphere, Cooper City is also a perfect
place to call home. Located within Broward County, Cooper City is serviced by both
the Fort Lauderdale and Miami International Airports. Near Interstates 75 and 595
and the Florida Turnpike, Cooper City is also within easy proximity of large
metropolitan centers. Originally inhabited by the Tequesta and Seminole Indians, the
town was successfully established in the 1870s. The city owes much of its good
fortune to the efforts of Morris Cooper an affluent real estate investor who began to
seriously develop the territory in the late 1950s. Sustained by his personal conviction
and perseverance, Mr. Cooper single-handedly galvanized the area and personally
invested over one hundred thousand dollars of his own money at a time when the
local economy was in disrepair and prospective investors had yet to be convinced of
the towns potential.
By 1959 the county began to thrive and Cooper City was born. Today Mr. Cooper
would be proud. The small 7 square mile town has blossomed into a thriving
community of 28,000 residents and boasts the fourth highest household median
income in Broward County. The average age of the population is 36 years, the
median household income is $81,000 and over 40% of the residents hold a
bachelors degree or higher. Unemployment is at 3% and is significantly below the
state average. Cooper City has an abundance of outdoor areas, a strong economic
foundation, and a quiet, countryside serenity that promotes a sense of well-being.

Cooper City has been designated "Tree City" because of the proliferation of shade
and specimen trees in our many neighborhoods and along our thoroughfares.
Cooper City calls its seven square miles "Someplace Special." It is composed mostly
of upscale housing developments. It has been designated "Tree City" because of the
city's intensive tree planting programs conducted over the years. While some
outsiders may think clean, quiet Cooper City less than distinct amid the sea of
western Broward County communities, loyal locals agree with its motto: "Someplace
Special." How many other towns do you know that mark their entrances with a stone
monument and fountain? Cooper City has one of the county's lowest crime rates,
despite spending relatively little on its police department. Located far from the urban
ills that suburbanites hate, the suburb features a two-mile stretch of Stirling Road
that has nine churches or other religious facilities (and a temple on the way). The
mostly sunny climate is ideal for the enjoyment of many outdoor sports. There are
many beautiful city and county parks to visit. Both Pembroke Pines and Cooper City
are just a short commute to the metropolitan centers of Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
